So I recently turned in my Macbook for a new one because of the slanted F keys and the loose battery cover problem. The keys are still a little slanted, but what I noticed was that the optical drive has a different sound and I realized that Apple has switched to using Optiarc instead of Matshita in the 2.0 Aluminum notebooks. It seems like the new optiarc drive is much louder when accessing it like waking up the computer from sleep. Is there any way to turn off the accessing of the optical drive when you come back from sleep? Also has anyone else who got a 2.0 Macbook recently noticed their loud optiarcs? I know the 2.4 Ghz also has some that use LG, but I don't think I've read anywhere that they use LG in their 2.0 Macbooks. Optiarc is supposedly a lot more reliable than Matshita apparently.

That's normal, the optical drive will sound when u boot up or wake up from sleeping, I know it's annoying but yea gotta live with it....after all it's only 1-2 seconds only.
