    Hi,

I recently purchased a MBP and installed windows xp pro with bootcamp to run games that I could't get for os x. However, after a few hour playing Freelancer, it shut down, presumably from overheating and there don't seem to be anyway to control the fans apart from hardware control. Are there any way around this problems?

you should use notebook hardware control and rivatuner to monitor CPU and GPU's temps while gaming, respectively, if they don't get above 85 for CPU and 75 for GPU, i don't think it's overheating

Thank you for the reply. I couldn't get Rivatuner or NHC to display either CPU or GPU temp, but the temperature after rebooting in OS X was in the upper 60s on SMC fan control (not sure what temperature it is displaying).

I installed bootcamp 1.2 and the fans work gradually now, no more overheating to date.
