I did a quick search and didn't pull up any numbers on it, so excuss me if this was once posted before. I was wondering if anyone knows how much of a better battery life increase there is from the Santa Rosa MacBooks to the Penryn MacBooks. I have read that in PC laptops it could be around 30 minutes increase, depending on the config/battery, but I was wondering what it was like on the Mac side. Right now I am debating on whether to get a refurbished 2.2 Santa Rosa MacBook(middle config with dvd-burner), a new base Penryn model, or a new, white 2.4 model(I know the differences between base to middle, not sure if the dvd-burner is really worth it for me).
And since I'm already posting I was wondering if people could list what kind of battery life they do get, with any MacBook config. From what I've seen, the Santa Rosa's got around 4 hours with basic tasks(word processing, internet browsing, music, etc). I would really appreciate it if someone with a Penryn could post their battery life.
Thanks in advance.

It should be 30% in MBs as well

30 is an inflated industry number under ideal conditions. In real use you should get a 10-15% increase.

Yep. I read a review recently (I'll have to dig up the link) that compared the two MBPs (Merom 2.4 vs Penryn 2.4) and found the battery life difference in "real world scenarios" to be around 10%. It should be (theoretically) even less of a difference between the 2.2GHz Merom and 2.4Ghz Penryn.

Well I got about 4:00 hours of battery life with my Santa Rosa MBP and now I get about 4:30 with my Penryn replacement, so about +30 minutes is right.

There were a few thread on the MBA that had links to battery life comparisons.
They had the CD MBP getting roughly 2.25 hours, the SR getting around 4 and the Penryn getting over 4.5.
Funny enough, the MBA gets the 2nd worst battery life (even with SSD) out of all mac products except for the CD MBP. -
Well, I never used a Santa Rosa MBP. But I have had my Penryn for about 3 weeks now. In Leopard I get an average of 4:30. But seeing the battery meter read over 5:00 is not uncommon (I go for max battery life because I need it to run all day for classes).

I am very pleased with my MBP battery life. If I run in OS X on battery save mode I can surf the net (wireless) have bluetooth on and do work etc and get 5 hours +
It is quite good.
