To make a long story short, I bought an ipod touch in spain, it was without a software upgrade, didn't have a laptop, so i went inside a cyber cafe and used one of those computers to buy the software upgrade there.
Fast forward to now, I am currently in venezuela, about 7000km away from spain, and my brother, in what I can only assume is a plot to give me migraines for the rest of my life, has reset my ipod to original factory settings, leaving me without the software upgrade, running version 1.1.4
I've googled so much my eyes hurt. Nothing. It shows up in my itunes store account purchase history, I cant even buy it again (not like i would).
Anyone's ever had a problem like this?
-
Well yeah, 1.1.4 IS in fact, the latest version on an iPod Touch, is it not?
-
Yes, but you can have 1.1.4 without the software upgrade, effectively feeling burned by the apple machine.
sorry, when I mean software upgrade, i meant the january apps.
ha ha .... i just realized my ass backward sentences... ah yes, gotta love the language barrier. -
So you have 1.1.4 but no January update apps?
I really can't understand what you're saying -
ok, i bought a 16gig ipod touch, it didnt come with the january update, apparently you can still get those on amazon cheaper.
anyway i bought it on ebay, i didnt realize it didnt have the update, but i didnt care, it was a steal already.
it was running 1.1.3, i didnt have a laptop, so i went in a cyber cafe, and updated the firmware to 1.1.4, but that still doesnt get you the january apps, which you have to pay 20 bucks for, and i did, using that computer.
now my ipod is restored to factory state, 1.1.3, updated to 1.1.4, but my apps are missing, and i cant do anything to retrieve them. they appear on my purchase history inside my itunes account, but i cant get them on the ipod.
i cant even buy them again, because ive already bought them with my apple id.
yes my pc is authorized, and yes i am logged in to the itunes account. -
Uh, yeah okay I got it now.
That sounds nasty.
Did you try posting on discussions.apple.com, or even sending them an email, or calling in the US? -
I havent tried either of those. Ive read a few discussions that say that when you buy the january apps a filed called iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa is stored in the recipient computer, and if it doesnt have it then you are SOL.
I guess im just gonna have to make the call to apple and hope they can resolve it quickly cause it can get pretty expensive calling from here...
i wish i could just find another way to fix this though
i dont know why it cant just recognize the same user account with the same ipod same serial number and just put them back in there. god this is frustrating... -
it would probably be faster to somehow get the phone number of the cyber cafe and get the guy to go into the computer i got into (i remember which one it was) and send me the file... the problem is, I know the street, i just dont remember the exact name of the business or the correct address, so it will be really hard getting that number.
any more bright ideas?
id prefer not calling apple since i bought the software upgrade with my itunes store account for all countries method. go figure, all that trouble to do it the legal way. -
email apple they're so nice
I accidentally deleted my entirely library off my computer (I didn't know if you made a file in the sidebar in finder that it was creating a folder in the trash (I was using it to organize my files)) and they let me re-download all my purchased songs again, when in the iTunes agreement thing it says you are only entitled to download a song once. So just try to e-mail apple and see what they say
Petit problem with my ipod touch
