It looks good. Although I'm not sure why the Apple logo isn't centered. Truthfully though, the top picture of the back looks like a foam meat tray spray painted aluminum with an Apple logo photoshopped in.
And thinness of monitors doesn't necessarily mean LED backlit since the MBP's monitor seems to be even thinner than the ones in these rumoured MB pictures and the MBP monitor didn't get thinner when it switched to CCFL, because it's already so thin even with CCFL. -
well this pretty much confirms the Al MacBook rumor
-edit yeah I'm also sort of wondering why "MacBook" isn't centered. Did someone just photoshop the "Pro" part out -
stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
-
I'm 100% positive that the new macbooks will at least have led backlit screens because Steve did say that every product line will go led eventually and it looks about time for the macbooks to adopt it. Plus its cheaper to use led at this point and time. -
It is a bit off the center, I don't believe this is a real photo. A photoshop of what they have seen, maybe, but I don't see it as an actual photograph. The text would never be off the center in the way it is. It'd either be deliberately right or left, or exactly center, not a little off.
-
Might be shopped.

it leaked several weeeeeeeeeeks ago on a taiwan apple insider's blog.....

I has thinks it's photoshopped.

This is a fake, come on guys.....

LED backlighting is coming. But are they really gonna switch to aluminum? All their laptops are gonna look the same, boring grey aluminum.... we'll see.

There's a debate raging over at macrumors about this topic. There is already 11 pages just today!
I still haven't decided for myself yet whether it's real or not, both sides are making good arguments at macrumors (about the authenticity of the pics). -

What really bugs me is this:
The Apple logo is generally centered and placed horizontally. This means that it'll look upright to users looking from the other side of the notebook when it's opened up.
This logo looks like it's resting on its side when the Macbook is opened up. This is based on the first picture that looks as if the logo is placed on the same axis as the shorter edges, rather than parallel to the longer edges in previous Macbook iterations.
So not only is it not centered, it's also on a totally different axis. -
Turns out the Apple logo IS indeed centered. xc3ll from AppleInsider shows us how:
-
In case you're wondering, I think the extension looks reasonable, however, the gray line is where the lid ends on the picture, isn't it?
Note: just checked out Apple Insider and xc3ll apparently says it's POSSIBLE that the logo is centered, assuming of course you believe that the Styrofoam the lid is resting on is covering part of the lid.

Additonally, xc3ll brings up another discrepancy.

Yeah, the grey line is where the lid ends on the picture, and yes I was reading the same thing
Oh, and yeah, it totally looks like it's a Macbook Air with the 'Air' Photoshopped out, because it's not aligned. -
-
I do believe they will be Aluminum.
I don't believe these pictures for a second. I call shenanigans! -
While it definitely looks cool, the pics looks a bit shifty to me.
-
well you are right on that point of view. Alu requires alot of energy to produce , but if you take a company like Alcan in Quebec, canada, they use hydroelectricity so its not that damaging for the environment compared to plastic which is made out of petrol. -
I wish the new macbooks come in alu. would be nice they offer them in different anodizing colors.
i also wish they would make a 15inch macbook since I like the keyboard.would also be cool to have a backlight option like the mac air. I don't need a 2200$ MBP -

. It is desired for recycling, which is one of the reasons Apple said they switched the iMac to aluminum and glass (our professional customers love it, we use it in all our professional products, and it is highly desirable for recyclers).
-
Yeap, aluminum looks great, absorbs heat great, and good for the environment.
-
-
why is only the top one on foam? and cropped? Probably fake. I thought they where real at first, tho I don't care I'm getting a MBP.
-
I call MBA lid with the Air text 'shopped out.
The logo is centered, the text isn't. It looks exactly the same as the MBA lid other than the text.
I rest my case. -
why does this stuff even make it onto the web? if someone actually had their hands on the next big thing from Apple, and a way to benefit from it, don't you think they would probably take some decent pics of the thing?
and even if it was the next MacBook, those photos are of no use to anyone, people really need to get over "Spy Photos" of computers, especially if they are at all related to Apple in anyway.
It might take me 1 hour to fabricate something up in Photoshop that resembles the next model MacBook, but that would be a complete waste of an hour and would definitely make me feel like a loser. -
