Would really appreciate if some of the new Alu Macbook owners can post their Amperage readings while running on battery
Mine reads:
Display (dimmest) with wifi on: -744 mA
Display (medium) with wifi on: - 789mA
Display Max with wifi On : - 919mA
Full set of readings:
Here is how to get these readings:
Open System Profiler>Power
You need to refresh the readings (Command-R) a few seconds after changing the brightness (or any other setting that would change the power draw)
Reason why I am acting so fussy about these readings is here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=320426
Now I am trying to assess if the notebook is able to manage the power draw efficiently while running on batteries
I am in India while this notebook was bought in the US..
Now even though the notebook is eligible for a DOA, the process is going to be a bit convoluted because it is an international DOA and seems like it may take upto 2-4 weeks![]()

have u tried calibrating the battery?
ill do it later when i have the chance -
will do that when I get a chance
whats worrying me is the 140 +mA consuption when on sleep
(Thats the reading i get the moment i resume from sleep) -
maybre try opening the laptop, remove and re-insert the battery back
this is really weird.. maybe you can get only the battery replaced
you could try and find someone who owns the new MB and test their battery on your laptop -
Where do you get all this information on your macbook?
-
We tried a SMC/PRAM reset..no Go
They swapped in a test battery and still no go (my battery works fine in the demo macbook at the AASP)
Called back Apple care..
Now because of the complexity of my case (International DOA), they need to obtain a senior Customer rep's approval to process the DOA replacement proceedings (I'd guess the manager of the rep handling my case) who will be at Work on Monday
Coming back to topic, would some of the folks with a new MB (or the old one too) be kind enough to post their readings -
Here are mine. Mine is a C2D w/GMA 950 video card

errr, seems like you took the reading while the battery was charging
The amperage , while running on batteries will be a negative number
also, the system battery capacity (in mAH) divided by the power draw (mA) will give you a real time value of the battery backup time
Also, can you please post your system sleep power drain (You can get the value by keeping system profile>Power window open , close the lid (put system to sleep)
The wake system after few seconds and quickly refresh the power readings (Cmd+R) - The value you will get for the first few seconds is your system's sleep drain
The battery capcity divided by the sleep drain will tell you the backup time to expect when the system is sleeping
Please post your Macbook Amperage ratings
