Not only has nature screwed them over with unbelievable cold winters(anybody experienced -50 celsius winnipeg winters?), but Rogers has announced that anyone who wants to get the new jesus phone will have to tie themselves to a 3 year contract! Yikes! -_-
I cringe at the thought of how much they will charge a month for data and voice.
-
Hah, I'm surprised Rogers (and Apple, for that matter) managed to even make it $199. I expected them to overcharge us Canadians to about $249. 3 years, I pretty much expected.
Hopefully the upcoming spectrum auctions will bring in more viable competition onto the playing field. Rogers has owned the market too long. -
This just goes to prove that the people in the USA are more privileged than other countries are.
-
not true. canadians are just ass good as USA.
-
and who cares about the iphone for 199 and 299. i rather pay that then have no free health care system. USA has like no free health care. canadians do so yeah never say that canadians are not priviliged. so yeah back to my point we have free health care and you don't so nah nah da boo boo

I'm used to three year contracts already. Crappy Nokia slider still has 1 1/2 years to go
.
By the way, how much are the plans? -
-
Rogers always does 3 year plans, I'm just hoping we will get a better discount and better plans. -
3 year contracts with Rogers is nothing new. Frankly, it doesn't bother me at all as there's no way in hell I'll ever switch to Bell or Telus, so a 3 year term means nothing. I'd sign a 5 year contract if it meant I'd get a free iPhone.

Anyways, the 3 years doesn't really bother me that much since I'd probably get a hardware upgrade in that time I suppose.
My telus contract expires on the 23rd and the only way I will cancel is if either a) rogers doesn't require you to get a data plan or b) if it's 30$ for unlimited. -
Just think how much that data plan will cost you.
I know for me it's cheaper to use my BB in the US with roaming charges then it is to use it in my Home Network.
Canadians, we are being screwed royally without the benefit of LUBE.
I really think Canadian phone companies need to be investigated for price fixing. Just my thought. We pay way to much for what the US get and pay for. -
Right now I'm using a 1st gen iPhone with Rogers and paying about $150 a month (including voice, calling features and 1gb data @ $65).....frankly I don't care because it's the cost of having an iPhone right now. Hopefully Rogers does the right thing and brings out some decent plans. Even if they don't, I'm prepared to spend as much as I am now AND sign a new contract for the new iPhone. It truly is the best cell phone I've ever used.

I pretty much expected the 3 year plan from Rogers... I'm just hoping for the $30 unlimited.
-crosses fingers- -
rogers sucks in my province. they have like no presence and the two cities they are in have very spotty reception and don't work outside those two cities.
mainly because of the crown company with phone monopoly. -

Just browing the web and getting emails, youd never get up to 1gb, even watching stuff off of youtube. Just wondering, do you actually use that 1gb, and how? Seems like a lotta usages for a phone.
Though, I guess I'll wait a bit and see if they find a way to jailbreak the new iphones, cause I really don't wanna be on a 3 year contract, even though I'm already with rogers. -
-
I use my iPhone for EVERYTHING. I'm always browsing, I've got 3 email accounts being checked every 15 minutes, weather updates, Swirly MMS, etc.
I really don't understand why people are so anal about signing a contract for a cell phone. I've been with Rogers almost 6 years now (on various 3-year contracts the entire time). Worst case scenario I can pay out the ECF and be done with them, however where else am I going to go? Telus? Bell? Not friggin likely!!
So.....sign a 3-year contract with Rogers, get the best deal you can, and then go have a good sleep at night next to your new iPhone! -
um....why wouldn't anyone who wants a serious phone just buy a Blackberry anyway?
-
I always wanted to start a website for Newfoundland regarding messed up bills. I don't know how many times the phone billing system always changes and when you scrutinize your bill, they always try and charge you over
I work in the US and use my BB a lot wile down there. I pay for Digital North American plan. Last month with another Billing system change they over charged me by $1000. Made a call and had to argue that my plan was this way. After reviewing some previous monthly statements they finally admitted they over charged and made the corrections. So my question is how many people does this happen to with Aliant/Bell that goes unnoticed.
I am willing to bet it happens quite often. I know in the last year alone with our home and Cell plans we have had 3 over charges. And instead of refunding you the money they try and offer you in credit, Ummm How about no. You give me back the money. That is why now we never do direct deposit with Bell/Aliant. -
if they are planning on releasing iPhones every year, why in the hell are they making them 2 year plans?
phone companies are absolutely crazy. -

People can say whatever bad things they want to say about the United States.. but I'm so glad that I live here!! =D -
A good thing about Blackberries are that they have better data rates since they use compressed data. -
I've owned an HTC TyTN and an HTC Touch (nevermind a couple other WM phones in the past).....and I still feel that the iPhone blows them all away.
I'm not trying to come across as an Apple fanboy......but for my own purposes, the iPhone does everything and more that I want.
I found that in order for WM phones to do what I wanted, I had to spend time configuring them properly. The iPhone just does what I want without me having to spend time MAKING it do what I want!!
Poor canadians...
