In this article it states that the Macbook pro will receive a massive update with a new CPU and GPU. Is this true? What are your thoughts and opinions?

That is possible since the new intel cpu line is supposed to be released this quarter.
-
NOooooo. I just bought my Mac
-
I say october....
-
same for me. no physical upgrade, just the internal components.
-
Im going to wait just to see if Apple will do it. Toms Hardware is a reliable source. I'm just going to wait to buy a macbook pro
-
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
It's not a Tom's article, this is a forum post. Detailed, but still a forum post.
Sources inside Apple had talked about the iMac refresh/update sometime in Fall as early as back in June after the WWDC upgrades to the Pro line (see AppleInsider and MacRumors). Use of written English is also less than stellar. Reliability just fell 3 stories down. -
Right AFTER the educator/student promotion ends on 9/8/09 seems like a good time for a move like this to boost business.
-
Absolutely. That same "text" is used over and over everywhere.
-
so from what i can gather from this, the macbook pro 13 inch will be left untouched? but for how long, when do they release upgraded versions of macbook pro 13?
-
Do not expect a major MBP update until early 2010.
The iMac is due for a Quad-Core upgrade and probably before the MBP. -
Been looking over this for a while cause i will be buying the next gen MBP and yes the next MBP update will definitely be a significant one, all internal, no physical. Mobile Nehalem is dropping which is a massive upgrade itself but also the new nvidia and ati gpus are coming out too.
As far as expectations i (sadly) doubt there will be a quad-core cpu put in the MBP just yet because the TDP of the new mobile quads is 45 watts, 10 watts higher than the current cpus apple uses. i would take the battery life hit for a quad-core and any "pro" laptop should have a quad although the general consumer for MBPs wouldn't. Even though the new dual core nehalem cpus are a massive upgrade as well.
the series HD 5000 and GT 300 chips will be out which will be very noticeable upgrades, especially to the 9600m gt which is two generations old now. if they stay with nvidia (which i dont think they will, plus they might get their chips out in time) i would expect the GT 340m or 350m, more likely the 340m going off their current gen TDPs. If they switch to ATI it'll be a HD 5650 or HD5670, again more likely being the HD5650.
These updates won't happen until Q1 2010, in Jan/Feb this is when they usually release their updates for the MBP, there will not be another update before then, although all this technology is being released on paper very soon and it should make it a lot easier to make assumptions then too. -
Well this sucks lol. I'm planning on buying my Macbook Pro end of this month (Stupid college takes forever to give out extra loan cash) but whatever. I can't wait I got videos to edit. Maybe I'll sell mine or something later.
-
Sounds like mine, they apply financial aide first business day after school starts and takes like 5days or so to get...
-
argh is this true? new mbp spec?! god damn i just order mine online!
-
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Chill out. MBPs won't be updated until mid-late 4th quarter earliest.... not until the new Intel chipset comes out to OEM retail.

How many of such "Ohh there gonna be new updates/refresh" unofficial news have we been seeing now?
Don't you get tired of this?
I rather get something I can upgrade or hack to install new stuff rather than fork out good money for something I have been using but not spoilt.
Possible Macbook pro update
