    OMG!!! I just found out I have that plastic sheet block the vent!!! This is awsome! I removed it just now hopefully it will start running cooler!

    I would think (hope) that there are only a few isolated cases of the vents being blocked by packaging material that was not removed. It seems like somebody in the final packaging area had a bad hangover and missed a few plastic sheets. I doubt this is very widespread.

    It would be good if it was widspread simply because it would be a simple solution to machines that run hot.

    I checked my machine. It doesn't have the plastic cover but neither does it have problems with overheating. Maybe there is a connection...

    My MB doesn't have the plastic piece...

    But it gets really hot after a hour or so of use and I can start to hear the whine, usually when in Windows.

    That coupled with the thermal compound explains the toasters dressed up as laptops. Though, with the MacBooks getting that hot, would't the film wrinkle a little bit, enough to be seen at least..
