OMG!!! I just found out I have that plastic sheet block the vent!!! This is awsome! I removed it just now hopefully it will start running cooler!

Are you being sarcastic or being serious? cause if you are being serious im glad i could help.

I would think (hope) that there are only a few isolated cases of the vents being blocked by packaging material that was not removed. It seems like somebody in the final packaging area had a bad hangover and missed a few plastic sheets. I doubt this is very widespread.

It would be good if it was widspread simply because it would be a simple solution to machines that run hot.

I checked my machine. It doesn't have the plastic cover but neither does it have problems with overheating. Maybe there is a connection...
-
My MB doesn't have the plastic piece...
But it gets really hot after a hour or so of use and I can start to hear the whine, usually when in Windows. -
That coupled with the thermal compound explains the toasters dressed up as laptops. Though, with the MacBooks getting that hot, would't the film wrinkle a little bit, enough to be seen at least..
Possible reason for Macbooks overheating
