I've given up on Safari 4. :D I've deleted the plist, I've resetted Safari, and it still crashes on me almost every 10 minutes. It's incredibly annoying. :(

So, is it possible to uninstall Safari 4? If so, how? :p Basically, what I want to do is to unisntall Safari 4, and reinstall Safari 3. Thanks!

no idea... Safari 3 was pretty mediocre... Safari 4 is so much better, I don't know if anyone has really wanted to do that before. I'd find out why yours is crashing before wasting time trying to go back to an old unsupported version.

As I said, I've searched through a ton of threads on Safari 4 issues. I've deleted plist file, I've resetting Safari. If anyone has any ideas on what to do, now would be the time.

Try other browsers instead. Firefox, IMO, is substantially better than any Safari version. Safari's inability to save tabs is pretty weak. Where's the RELOAD button for the toolbar?

You are much better off with Firefox, Camino, etc. than Safari 3.

the reload button is the same as on mobile safari... on the right of the URL entry area...

save tabs? how? like on exit it saves tabs so they reopen next time you open it? You can save all current tabs manually if you choose...

you can also reopen tabs from last run as well, even through a crash.. thats what the options on the History menu are for that are like "reopen last closed window" and "Reopen All Windows from Last Session"

thats hard to do without having access to the computer.. way to many variables to see and take into account to figure it out if you've already tried the basics.

Did you ever install any type of Safari or Webkit modification/plug in?

did you use any abnormal Safari plug in? not just simple things like Flash Player?

look under "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins" and see what all plug ins you have... usually its one of those causing crashes thats really old and doesn't work right on newer versions.

you can also for a test disable all your 3rd party plug ins to see if one is causing the problem... in Safari Preferences on the Security tab is a check mark to enable plug-ins. If you disable them all there and it doesn't crash, you know for sure its one of the plug ins causing it.

I have access to it.. It just crashes a whole ton lot - plus I do have access to other computers to read up on the threads and things...
No plugins other than Flash Player... I don't download plugins because of issues like these...

    I've just been learned. :D

It never occurred to me that the reload button might be separate from the toolbar buttons.

well I meant its hard for me to help without being able to look at it... but... :)

you looked in that folder and flash was the only plug in there? thats very abnormal.... often get tons of plug ins you don't really realize are plug ins.

Yes, it is. simply drag the icon of Safari from your applications list in the Finder to the trash. It is now uninstalled. After that you need to get an OS X recovery disc and find Safari 3 on it and install it. I've had to do this because neither Firefox nor Safari 4 works with a Common Access Card Reader, but I could get Safari 3 to. So I use the most current version of Firefox for my web browsing and Safari 3 whenever I have to use my CAC for government work. I have not upgraded to Snow Leopard, but I don't see why you couldn't still do it if you have. Remember that there are two Recovery discs and you want the one that has the actual OS on it. You will be able to check Safari 3 and uncheck anything else you don't want. After this you have to watch out whenever you run Software Update and uncheck the Safari 4 upgrade from then on out. Too much of a hassle for you? Then maybe Google's Chrome is more up your alley.

I don't care at all if I'm using Safari 4 or Safari 3. I just want to uninstall Safari 4, and reinstall Safari 3.

Thank you CireNaes for answering! :)

You're welcome. Glad I could help you out. Not alot of people really read questions nowadays, but feel the need to respond anyway since they're bored at work. Let me know how it goes and try not to use it as your primary browser since it is no longer supported and will leave you vulnerable to exploits. Or you could just buy some virus software if you already haven't. Macs are becoming more of a legitimate target since their recent market grab successes in the last 5 years or so. Have a good one.
