So, during the summer I work for my school. Last summer we got 2 MBP 15", and now both batteries are dead. By dead I mean won't even charge. They are literally dead. What can I do? We will probably end up buying new batteries, but what may be the cause of this?

What do you mean by that? If it means anything, I dont know how they were charged. I very much doubt they were cycled every month.

You will need to buy new batteries, that's for sure.

Were you using the Macbooks during this year?

Well one of them is used for our Media Arts program and the other for our Learning Center, which is for kids with learning disabilities. :)

Edit: Under stood your "were" for "where". Sorry, no offense, but Im used to alot of idiots on the internet who can't spell. I didnt personally use them, but I know people dont know to cycle the batteries at least 1 per month.

Usually the batteries stop holding the charge after they've been plugged in via dc all the time. I work at school too and I notice most of the people here have their laptops, mac and win, always connected. New batteries are going to be needed

Ill install Coconut Battery to see how many cycles and report back. To the poster above me that maybe the case here.

And by cycles I mean completely running down the battery and charging it completely. So yes, callibrating.

UPDATE: Coconut battery wont even run. I open it, it runs for like 10 seconds, then it closes and I get an error report. Its pretty much final now. New batteries must be purchased.

My laptop is of the same era and the battery is also dead. It's because I didn't power cycle it. It was always hooked up to a power cable and nothing kills a battery faster than that.

That's why I like the look of the new MBPs, they have better battery monitoring, they still need to cycle every now and then, but they are intelligent as far as how much to charge.

There are numerous reasons this could have happened. You're going to need new batteries, which are relatively cheap on eBay.
