Well .. after almost killing myself on how to import, edit, export the video on the recent purchase I did (premiere pro cs5) I still have a few questions, altough I kinda got the main things ..
So, how do I know if CS5 really uses the 9600m GT or it's only using the CPU? Adobe bounced a lot about how their software loves GPU-s more than CPU-s, but in my case the CPU runs hot at around 81 Celsius, while GPU sits at around 64 Celsius. I guess it's not really using any of the GPU functions, and in this case there is no reason to keep the MBP on 9600m GT, should I switch to the weaker 9400m? For the longer time on battery, since no improvements ..
What about the new MBP, the latest one, is that Nvidia good for CS5? I do a lot of video editing (no big deals, just cuts and so, but the exporting process takes sometimes more than the whole night ..) and I would like to upgrade my MBP to something stronger ..
Current MBP: 2.66Ghz 15" 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD.
I aml ooking at an i7 2.8 with 8GB RAM with SSD.
Besides the stronger CPU, if the GPU also helps I could see a faster video export. Just the CPU alone .. I don't know how much will it do. I am a little upset that the MBP line only got a little bump in speed ($$$$$)
What do you think?
Thank you![]()

I just got the 2.66 i7 and with dynamic graphic switching, this has been my best Mac yet. You will not be disappointed.
I had major issues with my last C2D 9600GT/9400M MBP15, when it came to doing video editing, and playing world of warcraft casually... I ended up giving this machine to my brother and some software updates seemed to help.
As far as the CPU, the i7 2.66 (620) versus the i7 (640) is not a big enough difference for me to justify spending the extra $200.00.
Good luck
Premiere CS5 on a MBP with 9600m GT
