Tomorrow is the last day for shipping of my MBP. I've read the parts shortage problem that Apple has/had during September. I'm going to call them tomorrow afternoon to see if it can be shipped tomorrow, or ask for an upgrade in my shipping.
I've seen people on this forum get better shipment/credit because of late shipping, but how is this actually talked out? Do I just say "hey can you upgrade my shipping for free" or weave a story of how the expedited shipping is critically needed, and wait for them to offer me?
Thanks.

I called Apple Sales Support (1-800-676-2775) and told them I wanted to cancel my order. That's really all I said. Then the Apple Sales person offered free expedited shipping and a $50 discount to retain my business. This happened in late June. Peace.

Do I just call back and try with another guy? -
I guess. Be creative
. I wasn't bluffing though, so that wasn't a concern.

Don't tell them you want expedited shipping for free or anything. Just ask honestly how much longer its going to take. Just say you would have rather gotten one at an apple store than have to wait this long. Then im sure they will give it to you.
This is how i got mine. They gave it to me because they will do whatever "keeps their customers happy." -
The guy I talked to said "there is no way it won't be shipped today."
I'll just call them tomorrow.. -
I just called and asked very politely if there was any way I could get my MBP sooner since it took so long for the HDD to arrive (this was the first batch of 7200rpm 160GB 15' MBP that had a month delay due to the backordered HDD back in summer) - and the guy just bumped me up to next-day for free without any hassle at all.

I'll ask that..
Man, I need this toy. -
Alright.
Today is the 21st. The Fedex tracker says package data transmitted, and it's been saying that for two days. Hopefully this is good enough for me to get an upgrade.
Edit:
Talked to a lady, she said I'd have it in my hands at the 24th, the latest. I'm right now getting a case number from her.. [edited while editing after the call] No case number for me, but I'll have it by Monday.
Hurray, but we'll see.. sounds skeptical since Fedex hasn't picked it up yet, but it'd be here after two weekend days. -
You should definitely get upgraded shipping for your wait. One of the reasons I like Apple is because they have good service.
I've notcied a lot of people from Ohio (I live in Granville) on these forums. What's up with that? -
Great...
I lost my UPC label for the nano. My mom threw the box away, now I've wasted $150 on a nano that I didn't need. Thankfully she didn't throw away the printer box because my printer is still in it..

And my computer wasn't literally shipped until the 22nd, while the last day of shipment was the 19th.
Edit: I suppose 22nd in China is actually 21st here, but still, two days.
I know these may sound like small nitty problems to even write about, but it doesn't feel quite satisfying. -
The delayed shipment date kinda sucks, although I can understand that happening to any company. Sorry to hear that though.
....
as for the nano...sorrythat's your own fault (or your mom's).

Woot. $150 for something I don't need, last-gen!

How good is Apple CS? Maybe I can nag on them for a flashy solution :[ -
Erm....I guess it doesn't hurt to try, but I don't think you'll have much luck.

MY MACBOOK PRO HAS TWO DEAD PIXELS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN.
This is mountain after mountain.. -

Snap, that really blows.

Apple should have a tighter policy on dead pixels in the middle vs, dead pixels toward the edge. Get on the horn with CS and tell them to make you happy. The middle is unacceptable

Just one more thing for me to yell at them about if they can't give me my rebate..
I'm not a happy person today, I paid $100 in towing.. :[
