Have Apple even thought about people maybe changing the battery on the new Apple Macbooks at all when it's worn out?
It must have been their dumbest move ever that you can't replace the battery and made it integrated![]()
How much does Apple charge you when it's time to change the battery when it's old and not working anymore?
-
they will charge you 180$.They say that it will last for 5 years or 1000 charges, which,IMO,is good trade of for 8 hours of battery.
-
Huh?
Mine is a month old and I can change the battery.
What are you talking about? -
He's talking about the 17inch Macbook Pro's not the Macbooks.
Anyways, What Xirurg said. -
There's also less moving parts in the 17" pro.
-
yay another troll thread (fyi MacBook batteries are user replaceable). The only "non-user replaceable" battery is in the 17" MBP. It's not like it can't be replaced either. It's would be no harder than replacing the hard drive (although it will void the battery but these batteries are rated to last longer than the laptop warranty).
If this happens to be a serious question, here are a few reasons to keep the battery internal:
allow a larger battery (can better fit it to the shape of the laptop)
this in turn allows for longer battery life.
Most users won't nee more than 7 hours of battery life (which would be better than having to carry 1-2 extra batterys)
a non-user replacable battery means that you don't have to cut a large hole in the bottom of the laptop. This greatly increases the strength of the laptop allowing it to be made lighter and thinner.
What you give up:
If you don't happen to have a nearby Applestore, you will have to send in your laptop for ~1 week once every 4 years. In the other 207 weeks you can enjoy the above benefits. -
