I just downloaded the newest Leopard upgrade and now it seems that neither Safari nor Firefox will access geocities based websites.. not even www.geocities.com
I either get a blank page that does not load or I get this message "Safari can’t open the page "name of site" because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later."

Update: Took my notebook to work. I can access geocities sites from there. So I guess this is a problem with my ISP? I really don't get it.. what could be causing this?
-
Sounds like an issue between your ISP and the web server. Probably a missing link someplace.
You could do stuff like route trace to see where the conn is dropping. It's probably a middle man along the line dropping your conn.
It happens on occassion. -
Can you access your router ok? your mac might just have lost your wifi settings at home.
If you can't remember the IP address for your router, here's a handy list! (requires Acrobat Reader or other PDF reader)

haha.. that list is great
Wouldn't I not be able to access other websites though? Geocities and geocities based websites are the only ones that I can't access.. -
If you ask me, it sounds like an overlapping firewall (which, isn't that one thing that was updated in 10.5.1?). I know on my router (a netgear with built-in firewall), if I kept Windows firewall going, Myspace (and only myspace, for some reason) would either not work, or would have most of the images blocked.
My suggestion: turn off the firewall on your computer and see if that helps any. -
It could also be your router settings -
I checked my firewall. It is set to "Allow all incoming connections" but I still can't get on geocities.
