I'm about 3 months into my tasty new MBP 15" and I'm still getting used to it. It's my travel computer and I'm still working on a dual boot setup so that I can access my work email (DoD) and some programs (MS Project, Outlook) while on the road.
I have Win7 RC set up right now for my dual boot setup, but have been looking into getting either VMWare or Parallels to both play with Win 7 some more, and to possibly get a setup that won't require me to use Boot Camp just to check work email.
Anyway, I stumbled upon a banner add on Yahoo mail about a deal for VMWare with a discount. The discount uses the promo code "FusionPower" at checkout. I input the code and applied it and everything worked, but when I clicked the final button to process the order, the VMWare website said it couldn't process the order and told me to verify my info.
Has anyone tried this deal, or had any experience with it working or not working? Feel free to try for yourselves. I'd love to get one of the two virtualization programs to play with but don't want to pay the ~$80 for either one.
If it doesn't work, that's fine. I just want to make sure I'm not insane and this actually works.

You could always send VMWARE an email and ask them if this promo is still in session.

I bought VMware 2 just recently with Educational discount, no promo code... was 50% off for $39.99 ... just had to have a .edu email address
-
i've used vmware and parallels and i like parallels better. but i saw that most mac users like vmware.

VMware fusion is much more Mac-like... more towards the simple and just works idea... -
I have VMware setup to boot from my BootCamp partition on my MB alu and it works great with XP. Just my 2c.

A bit of a necro here (work has been kicking my lately). That MacUpdate promo is still available for about 6 more hours. I can also get VMWare Fusion 2 through Newegg for only $36 after MIR.
Those other apps look nice, but I'd doubt I use any of them other than Parallels and the performance app. However, the price makes it worthwhile for Parallels alone.
Any other thoughts?
As it stands, I'm leaning toward VMWare since the price isn't time-dependent. -
Ugh. Now that I've watched the vid on MUPromo, I'm heavily leaning on getting that bundle.
-
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
You can also download a 30 day trial copy of Fusion2 from VMWare's website to test drive it

Sorry for the necro but I hate starting new threads about the same subject. I ended up jumping on the MUPromo deal and I'm glad I did. I already gave a couple of the other apps a runthrough and the price was perfect just for Parallels.
I'm quite happy!
Next on the list is getting some of my older games that I put off, like KOTOR, set up so that I have some entertainment when I'm stuck in airports and hotel rooms.

I have to say I'm quite happy with my decision to get a MBP. Now that I've finally got it set up where I don't need to lug my old Thinkpad along anymore (I just didn't have the free time until recently to get everything set up), the thing is simply a godsend for me.
I'm still kicking myself for picking it up ~2 months before the iPod Touch offer (which I knew was coming) and of course the battery iteration; but at some point you just have to bite the bullet and buy the damn thing.
I'm still an OSX novice, but I'm learning.
