Hello,
So here's the situation:
I'm trying to set up the linksys wireless router. I went through the whole http://192.168.1. I set up the name of my access point. I set up a password (WPA personal).
I typed in the password to "log in" to the access point I set up. The password obviously is correct, and I'm in. The airport shows full bars.
I try opening up a webpage, and it takes forever and nothing loads.
I've been trying to figure out what has been wrong.
Can anyone help?
What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do?
Thank you.

Make sure the router is connected to a modem, and the modem is connected to the internets. Sounds simple, but I know from experience that simple mistakes do happen.

It is connected.
Any other suggestions? -
If you are using cable, you need to be sure to use the computer that you initially used to set up the cable connection with the router. So what you will have to do is clone your PC's address to the router so that the router is able to access the internet.
I learned this the hard way since I tried configuring the wireless connection on my computer for my place in Davis. Apparently, my other house mate was the one that set up the cable service and therefore used her computer, so once I cloned her Mac's MAC address to the router, the internet worked.
You probably have to do the same thing if you were using any other service(such as DSL), but I know this is what you definitely have to do for a cable connection. -
Why would you need the computer's MAC address. Usually its the MAC address associated with the cable modem that the cable company tracks.
-
Thats the way it worked for me. You need to clone the PC's MAC address to the router for the modem to allow internet access to the router. Even if I tried connecting to the internet directly through the router with my computer, I would not be able to get to the internet because my computer's MAC address was different from the computer that was used to set it up.
There is a setup page for all routers that gives the option to clone your MAC address, use that. -
I've never had that problem. And I set up a new router when I got my MBP and neither me or my parents are having a problem.

You were probably using DSL or something. I know that with DSL it shouldn't be an issue. I called comcast about getting the DNS IPs so that I could enter them into the router, but the guy said that they are allocated dynamically so I couldn't set up the router with given DNS numbers, I had to use the computer that was set up with the modem initially to setup the router(to clone the MAC address).
And I just went through all this just a week ago so it is all fresh in my mind. -
Nope, Rogers Cable.

Comcast Cable here. I don't know if there is a difference or anything...
