Let's say a Mac laptop is purchased on Amazon.com, not in an Apple store or on Apple.com.

Now let's say the laptop needs service within the 1 yr warranty. Can it be taken in to an Apple store for service?

Also, can the Mac "geniuses" be utilized? Or are they reserved for Apple-direct purchases only?

    Thanks...

Yes, you can take it to the Apple store regardless of where you got it. Take a copy of your receipt in just to be safe.

buy it from macmall.com - they have $150 rebate (and free printer and $9 parallels after rebates).

Thanks, but I've read some negative comments about MacMall.

Besides, Amazon.com also has the $150 rebate. And I trust them (my wife orders stuff from Amazon all the time).
