Ive read that in boot camp the fans do not automatically know when to come on when using vista or xp. I was just wondering if they do work correctly when using parallels since it is emulating windows and OS x is still controlling everything else?

Just making sure I am understanding this correctly.

    Thanks.

Yes they work under Parallels just like OS X. OS X still has the control over the main laptop power functions such as fans and screen brightness.

The fans under bootcamp and Windows are not perfect but if you set smc fan control to a minimum of 4000RPM in OSX it keeps things cool under Windows.

Fan control isn't horrible under Windows either. Although I didn't try to install any software to manually control it on the Windows side, it scales up with heat just fine. I leave it at the default 2k min but it's not like it waits until the entire thing's burning up to turn on. Every once in a while doing some normal moderately intensive tasks, I'll hear the fans ramp up slightly.

As soon as I run a game, they'll go up to 6k really fast and then stay in the vicinity of 4-6k for the duration until I exit out. So it's definitely not like you're going to burn out your system.
