Hello, i have an early 2009 white macbook and i want to get the adapter so i can hook it up to my tv but then i read somewhere that theres no audio signal from the min dvi connector and that i would have to run separate audio cable from the mac? I might have read wrong, but could someone tell me where i can get the adapter that allows video and audio signal? Thanks!

Yes, only HDMI carries audio. But only the 2010 MBP's support audio through their mini displayport out.

You would be best off with a mini dvi - DVI or HDMI (which ever is cheapest, probably HDMI) then a 3.5mm to RCA or 3.5 to 3.5 if your TV has a 3.5mm jack.

there are single units that plug into mini-DP and USB that have their own sound device built in so you can get sound and video out through HDMI even for older Macbooks that do not support audio in the mini-DP port... I have one and it works great, even with newer Macs.
