So, my question needs a little bit of an introduction. I just got a Macbook Pro as a replacement for my HP DV1000 after it was stolen. Anyways, long story short, I want to try installing windows on my new machine and I was wondering if it would be legal to use the version of windows XP which came with my old laptop to do so (I still have the install discs). I know it will work (it has SP2), I just don't know if its against the law to install an OEM version of windows on another machine!
Thanks

Yes if you have the media in your hands the windows CD. it is your legal copy makes no difference where it came from.

There is a good chance the CD won't even work.

i disagree, it should work perfectly under boot camp

Actually it worked perfectly! Thank you

Could you do me a big favour.....
I'm thinking of ditching my main gaming PC and buying a MBP. Could you run a Benchmark 3dMark 2001 to see what score it gets? If your willing to do that i'll send you a link to download the software.
I would be very grateful!!

Darrensen,
I'd be happy to do a test for you. I'll post the results as soon as I can -
Another user in another thread stated that the MBP gets somewhere around 2900-3000 on 3DMark05.
