Hello. As a very frustrated and unsatisfied Dell customer, I have returned my Vostro 1500 and am looking for an alternative.
I am looking at the Macbook. Being a full time student at University and carrying around a Vostro did not work well together. I am looking for something smaller.
Sacrificing graphics power is of no big concern to me since I realize now I have no time to dwell in heavy gaming.
My question is in concern to the graphical power of the Macbook. I know it comes with an integrated graphics card that does not have much power. I am wondering how well it would run older games such as HL 2 and other games from that generation. It would be nice in the very little free time that I have to be able to play some games that are decent and not be stuck with Minesweeper in between classes![]()

While I love my MacBook, maybe you should take note of the MacBook's weight...5.1 lbs. While its not too much, it is considered heavy compared to other 13.3-inch notebooks.
Games that were released for about a few years will mostl likely run on the GMA950. Albeit, they won't run that well, but they will still most likely be able to run it. -
if u are planning on to play cs source on it, u will mostly like be disappointed
i suppose it can still run on the macbook, but then it would be so laggy that it wouldn't be fun -
I think there are some rumors the MacBook may be updated with the Intel GMA X3100 sometime soon. Search the Apple Forum for more information. Even then, it's not optimal for gaming. Better than the GMA 950 though. Here is a good performance indicator for the X3100: The GMA X3100 Gaming Thread.

Yeah you're right, I guess the more correct thing to say is the Intel Mobile 965 Express Chipset.

I was at the my university store today and tried out the sample MB that was there. It was heavier then I thought but I love the screen and the operating system. I probably like the screen so much since I previously had an AUO on my Dell but that is a whole other story
Sam, the weight is of no issue to me, it is mainly the size. It would be much easier to use a 13.3 inch notebook in class then a 15.4 imo.
All I have to do now is wait for the refund from Dell, and then decide on what to do in regards to the Macbook. The users here seem to support OS X greatly, much more over Windows. Also, what I have gathered from research is that Macs do not get viruses and are much more stable. The only thing slightly turning me off is the integrated graphics but if it can decently run games from a few years ago I wouldnt mind too much. -
. Tell us how it goes.
Yeah, what most Apple bashers fail to realize is...there's a reason Mac users love their Macs so much. Its because its actually great.
Although I do want to say, yes, currently, OS X has no viruses targeting it in the wild, and is much more stable than Windows. However, unfortunately Apple's marketing has created a "misconception" that Macs don't and will never get viruses. That's not true, as OS X continues to grow eventually viruses will start targeting OS X as well. But for now, you can use your Mac to browse the internet safely without any AV.
