When I open a program like firefox, before it opens a little white disk drive comes up on my homescreen and if I "eject" it, it will close firefox. How do you make these go away. Its not a huge problem, its just kinda annoying. Thanks.

You have not installed the program correctly. Open the white disk, drag the icon of the program to your applications folder. Eject the disk and from now on, open the program from your applications folder (or create a dock shortcut).

Also, read some of the Mac switcher's guide on the top of the page for more info.

Its a minor hassle, but it actually has its benefits: think, if you want to try out a program before really installing it, you can do so this way, and if you like it, you can install the program; if you don't, delete the file and it never installed anything. So its a "try it risk free!" sort of thing :).
