    Hi there

First time MacBook user (soon to be) so please help me.

A friend of mine who works in Apple Shop in Malaysia is getting a MacBook Pro 17' i5 core for me fom Malaysia which is roughly $600 cheaper then US / Canada price and it comes with Interntional Warranty.

    1. I reside in Canada so is this International Warranty is any good or valid in Canada / US? if not then how I will make it work in Canada?

    2. How I will know that this is a genuine MacBook not a China made Mac copy? (there are a few mac copies around) like if there a weblink where I can type the serial number of the product to verify its validity etc.?

    3. Can I add APPLECARE extended warranty to my MacBook laptop in Canada that is purchased from Malaysia?

    4. Is AppleCare ($350 for 17' Macbook Pro) is woth having it?

    5. Any official Email address of Apple Customer service?

Please help me by answering my questions.

    Kind regards.

    SMSabir

Apple support site has a system check thats easy to find where you can enter your serial number and it tells you about your machine... that *may* be enough, but make sure you register the serial number, in case its a legit serial number, but is still on a different Apple laptop too.

as for as international warranty working in the US or Canada? I have no idea... call Apple and say your buying a laptop but your going to be moving from Malaysia to Canada and want to know how your warranty will work.... I doubt it would be a problem.

Unfortunately, they don't have an email address. Your best bet is to just give AppleCare a call; they're nice enough.

i have a macbook that i asked apple Egypt that same question , i asked them if i bought a macbook from US will it be repaired/replaced in Egypt , the answers was yes But they will send it to the US for replacement provided that i pay for the shipping :D , N.B: Egypt only got apple trusted dealers , they have no real apple stores , so maybe thats why they asked me to send it abroad for repairs/replacments
