If I buy a 2.8ghz macbookpro, will i be able to upgrade it in the future to 3.06ghz or higher from Apple or another place?
-
Not from Apple. You might be able to upgrade from some independent repair shop. Note that doing so will void your warranty.
-
I believe the processors are soldered onto the motherboard ( oops sorry, logic board
), so it wouldn't be possible in this case.
-
Upgrading to a faster hard drive or SSD if that floats your boat, is money better spent. Unless you plan on running your MBP CPU 24/7 at 100%, bumping from 2.8GHz to 3GHz has little if any marginal value.
-
A second question... would a RAM upgrade void the warrenty too?
-
no,it won't.

Thanks for the answers! I am wondering if there are any places that actually can upgrade the cpu from like 2.8ghz to maybe 3.5ish in the future. (Maybe in 2-3 years.) And for the graphics card, will that be upgradable? Thanks.

Upgrading the CPU need the support the logic board support. You can not put a random CPU on the motherboard. It need the architecture support.

Apple computers aren't really made to be tinkered with in this fashion. You would be suprised how long a simple 2.8 ghz will last you unless you are doing CPU intensive work.
If you need a system with upgrade potential, you should consider a mac pro or a PC. If it HAS to be a CPU upgradeable laptop, then you are out of luck with Apple. -
The main difference between core 2 of today and the mobile cpus next year, are not performance, but the power efficiency. From the non-removable battery expect your laptop to be mobility impaired in two years, while other notebooks have 12 hour battery time.

care to elaborate your last sentence?
