Can I customize a Macbook Pro at the Apple Store? Or all that has to be done online? I'm asking because I want to capitalize on the free printers they're giving out to those going to college, however my friend told me I can only get the pre-builts from the store. Can anybody confirm or "un-confirm" this?

    Thanks, Jeff

First of all, remember that the printer is only "free" after rebate, and in order for the printer to be "free", it needs to be under $100.

Also, the "free printer" offer applies to both online and brick and mortar stores.

Lastly, don't forget to combine your education discount with the free iPod touch offer.

Apple Retail Stores will gladly take your BTO orders for you.

I was scurrying around for a client trying to track down a 15.4" MBP config, and when I called the Apple store, they didn't have the config but you could stop in and they will go over the fine points for you if needed, determine your needs and order it for you.

I like the Store->Corporate synergy of the Apple Stores.

I'm telling you, all they need in there is a Starbucks like lounge area (Apple Bucks?)....

They can NOT have any customization done on one of the standard configs beyond upgrading the RAM. Only the Mac Pro can you add additional HDDs in store.

Just always call and ask to see if they will have exactly what you want.

You could even book a personal shop to go in and figure out exactly what you need, and order it online in the store if you like, shipped to your address of course.

Of course they won't do it in store, lol. They can take a BTO order just like you would order it online except with the hands on TLC.
