When will Apple release Quicktime X for Windows?
-
some day in the future...
Apple doesn't announce plans like this very often, and if they do, it'll be shortly before releasing it... but more than likely, no one will know until the day its released -
Probably about the same time MS releases a MSN messenger client for OS X with A/V support.

it doesn't matter. VLC makes quicktime pretty much useless on windows- and almost completely useless on mac as well for that matter.
-
Yeah, pretty much any video player is better than Quicktime. The only thing I use Quicktime for on Mac & PC is for viewing the HD movie trailers on the Quicktime website.
-
I tried Quicktime X, but hated the interface, so I dumped it for Quicktime 7 + Perian. I'm sure it will come in handy for exporting movies in the future though.
-
what wrong with QT X interface? Theres some features missing, so I don't really like or use it much, but the interface is awesome.
-
I don't like the floating control panel much, I much prefer something static like Quicktime 7's control panel. Maybe I'll give it a second chance though.
Edit: Actually, I take it all back. I've been playing around with the program a bit and I don't mind it now. -

read the fine print
"If your company has Office Communications Server 2007 and Messenger for Mac 7 installed within your corporate network, you can participate in face-to-face meetings with co-workers in other cities, countries, or on Windows PCs using multi-party audio and video conferencing."Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
We'll see Quicktime X for Windows when Microsoft finally makes the Mac version of Office equal the Windows version in speed performance and features. In other words, when hell freezes over.

openoffice.org is fully office compatible, works great on the mac and is completely free.
Microsoft office and quicktime are both fairly useless and unnecessary on ALL platforms. -
I beg to differ. Most office environments depend heavily on MS Office. I couldn't live without it.

You're missing the point. The OP is asking about Apple software for Windows. Quicktime X has an awesome UI and it should be great on it's next update which is understandable that some Windows users would like it. Well, many Mac users would like to see Microsoft make their software on Mac equal to the Windows versions but Microsoft takes every chance they get to stick it to the Mac customers by making unacceptable software and charging us the same price as the Windows versions.
Of course I can easily find alternatives, that's not what this thread is about. -
just because its a standard, and they heavily rely on it, doesn't mean they really need it, and other options wouldn't work just as well or better.

yes it's not what this thread is about, so lets give the standard mac forum response and lock the thread.
"you'll know when you know" "go to the mac store" & we can't forget the popular "Windows SuX w00t" -
By the time there's Quicktime XIV for OS X, they'll probably have Quicktime X for Windows.
...Or is Apple going to call that version Quicktime X 10.4?
