I wuz wonderin if macs were any good for games. do games actually come out with special mac versions, and do games like doom 3, halo, half life 2, and countersrike 2 have mac versions? Also, does something like the G4 17 incher's 128 9700 perform as well as the regular 9700's that were in dells until now, and that are in sagers and alienwares, etc. ?(except the go6800).

Games do come out for Macs, it just take alot longer. Doom3 is ment to be out soon for mac, but there is no word about HL2 as yet.
There are some good games like COD, BF1942 etc that are avaliable for the Mac right now, should be able to find a more exensive list on the apple website.
However if you are a big gamer, then pc is still the much better choice at the moment in my opinion.

On the mac side games take alittle more time. However on the Bungie side I would not worry. Bungie has been making games for macs for many years (If you did not know Bungie is the maker of Halo) So games from them normally have a Mac version almost right away.

There are some games. However, I used to be a Mac owner and mos of the time Mac's and games don't mix. If you are thinking about any gaming you should consider either the PowerMac G5 or iMac G5. Because, my "previously owned" Apple iBook and PowerBook, could not handle games with it's poor video processors.
