so i got myself a macbook pro a while back, the late 2011 2.8ghz 13" one...and i feel that for my use, i really could use more than the 4GB of memory that it comes with, and i dont feel like spending wat apple charges for the ugprade
i read online on some blogs about upgrading memory on a macbook pro very cheap - one guy said he got some corsair memory for $34 - 8GB. that sounds wonderfulhe said DDR3 1333mhz memory would do..and thats wat my About My Mac info page says too.. so i thought that'd work
however, when i went to one computer store today, and picked out a corsair DDR3 1333mhz notebook RAM chip (a couple of 4gig chips) and just asked the salesguy if it'd work on my mac.. and he said no. something about the size being different or somethign?
wats the deal here? does ordinary DDR3 notebook memory work as an upgrade to a macbook pro? the apple support site has something about a 204pin chip and some dimentions (1.18inch i think) - is this different to usual note book ram? how would u suggest i upgrade my macbook's RAM?
sorry if this has been asked before (i did try searching) thanks for ur time!![]()

Yes, any DDR3 will work fine. But why buy 2x4GB sticks when you could just get 1x4GB and add it to your already existent 4GB stick?

Huh!? What are you talking about?

thanks guys! i thought so. and yeah, i have 2x 2GB, so i need to replace em both.
i have no idea why that salesguy said that - it wasnt even an apple store... i can understand if it was an apple store n the guy wanted instead to rip me off on the apple ($200? $400?) memory upgrade. lol
thanks again! -
Maybe he didn't know about the whole apple transition to intel.

even the older powerpc macs use regular memory. i just outfitted an old powerbook with some standard DDR memory a few months ago.
