This happened this morning, never heard this on a macbook or any laptop for the matter. It's all better now, but it was a shock! Sounded like a like radiator or something inside the notebook. Is this a bad sign of things to come?

I'm not sure, but I've heard of people hearing that sound when their motherboard is failing. If it happens again or you hear more dis-heartening sounds, call an Apple store Immediately. Also, is there anything wrong with the screen?

You could see if they would give you a rental machine, since you sent your machine in for repair. You could clone the HDD and you'd be back to normal while the other is in for repair. ;)

read the manual when you got them.

just a note: when you put your mac to sleep, dont forget to wait until the white light pulsate before moving the macbook.

i think the best resource is here. and google.

Hmm, another fan going out eh? Don't make the same mistake that I did and use mail-in repair. It might be 60 miles away, but I'd really try to take it into an apple store if possible.
But then again, if you use mail-in, you might get an express exchange for a new system.

    UPDATE:

Apple phone support said I could take it to any authrorized repair store. I did. Dam thing refused to make the noise, there. They even left it on all night like I did. The guy there basically refused to open the macbook unless he can hear the noise first? He told me to take it home and if it happens again bring it while its making the noise. 3 months of ownership and i get this my mom's ghetto 400 buck compaq is still holding strong after 3 years. I still love apple though, i know this is a rare case, :(. If i have to drive down to LA( I am in Santa Barbara), i will. Money is tight theese days. Gas would cost about 20 bucks and there is no guareentee once i get there they can and would fix it, let alone the same day. This stinks because i wanted to counter the problem early before the laptop fails fully, looks like this local center, wants to fix it after it dies totally, there are a couple others in the area however.
