Mr. Blurrycam reveals the updated MacBook Pro, $899 laptop model shows up in Apple inventory systems

Interesting. Could very well be real but at the same time not necessarily impossible to recreate in Photoshop.
Most interesting, if anything, is that the trackpad now lacks a mouse button in that photo... -

First of all, I didn't just make up those points - they were quoted from a couple of credible sources. That particular bit of information came from AppleInsider:
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/10/11/apple_dumping_intel_chipsets_for_nvidias_in_new_macbooks.html
"Several advantages may tip the balance in favor of the new platform, however. From a physical design perspective, one of the most important factors is NVIDIA's consolidation of all the controller features into a single chip rather than the two necessary for Intel's current architecture. This reduces the total footprint needed for the mainboard in normally tight notebook enclosures.
It will also sport proprietary NVIDIA features such as DriveCache, which uses flash storage to speed up loading times, and Hybrid SLI, which switches from discrete to integrated graphics to increase battery life in low-demand situations. It's not known whether Apple will make use of any or all of these technologies, however."
Say whatever you like about AppleInsider, engadget, macrumors, or anyone else as a credible source, but at this point all anyone is going on are rumors and speculation.
Secondly, there's no reason at all to act like a superior douche. We're all trying to share information. So if you have contradictory information, great, post it. -

Please include a matte option. That shot just goes to show how unappealing glossy can be.
And 2 full nVidia GPUs? I'm all for SLI, but somehow I think a single 9700M GT or 9700M GTS, might be more sensible than 2x9600M GS or 2x9600M GT in SLI. -
2 x 9700M GTS?
That'll be the day I bow down to Apple and never buy any other brand of computers.. -
Sli MBP.....WoW
I'll forget nVIDIA issues -
learn to read kid. honestly, learn to read.

You don't know a single thing about me. So get off your high horse and get a life. Internet tough guys are almost always sniveling basement dwellers.
cdnalsi - I drool right along side you! -
By 2x Nividia GPUs I assume they mean one dedicated GPU and one IGPU. Two SLI'd GPUs is too good to be Apple.
Still, that thing looks a little thicker than the current one, certainly not thinner... maybe a 9700M GT could be squeezed in there.. -
so, anyone else ordering a macbook tonight?
-
"all new MacBooks -- regular, Pro, and Air -- will feature the new NVIDIA 9400M GPU -- the 15-inch MacBook Pro (the 17-inch will remain unchanged albeit with 4GB of memory and bigger 320GB disk) will feature a second 9600M GT GPU making it a true graphics powerhouse"
How exactly does combining a 9400M and a 9600M GT make a MBP a "graphical powerhouse" when they presumably can't work in unison? The 9600M GT is a puny card, sure, if you added the 3d mark score of a 9400M on top of it, it's be very good indeed, but as far as I know that's not possible, GeForce Boost requires cards of equal-ish power. -
I have my debit card ready. Have to stay up until 3am for the announcement though.
-
What they fail to realise is that the 9400M is already two cards working together, the integrated 9100 and a dedicated 9200, as per nVidia's website.
-
it works in SLI
-
Doesn't that require two cards of similar strength?

The MCP79 is supposed to be a new IGP that is different from the IGP incorporating the 9100M G that is currently on the nVidia website. So presumably, nVidia could integrate a new IGP, probably with 16 SP instead of the current 8, and dub it a 9400M. There currently aren't any 9400M mobile discrete graphics cards according to the nVidia website so they certainly have room.
In regards to an IGP and a 9600M GT working in SLI, it appears to be true that they won't work together in SLI. The idea seems to be in the MBP to use the 9600M GT for heavy graphics tasks and the IGP for programmable tasks, like a hardware accelerated PhysX engine. Grand Central will presumably be able to schedule OpenCL tasks to both GPUs directly without SLI. -
so with a bit of clever programming both can be used by e.g. Photoshop..
-
Colour me utterly and completely underwhelmed if the IGPU can't boost the GPUs performance, a 9600M GT functioning alone in a high end laptop with the power saving benefits of HybridPower would be an absolute disgrace.

Im not liking the latest that the rumor mill is churning out... No $800 macbook for mom and no 17" pro for me.
I hope these things are false!!!
Also, I am highly suspicious of the new keyboard. Dunno if I can deal with that. -

I'm disappointed there won't be a $800-900 macbook either. I was hoping to get my sister one. Lame. -
Wow, really underwhelmed with the MacBook Pro announcement as I was wanting an updated 17".
- Looks like no 17" refresh this time around
- No mention of matte screen? - just looks glossy (yuck for color management)
- Graphics to 9600M looks OK but not much of an upgrade
- Chiclet keys okay but not great (I have a MacBook last 2 years)
- Doesn't look all that pro to me
Well - off to the refurb store to see what they got on 17" models
-
Arch, they are updating the 17". Just not yet.
No matte screen. Apple really blew it there. I mean, wow... how arrogant. "just turn up the brightness and adjust the screen". Sorry, thats not a resolution...
Chiclet keyboards suck. I'm tired of using Applels crappy chiclet keyboard on my desktop.
Sigh... FU apple. This is fail. No one in the office wants to buy a new MB/MBP now. I was hoping to buy one in a few months, but I doubt I'll buy one now. And I was really hoping to keep with an Apple laptop. -
idunno what i am going to do now.
I kindof feel the need to try out OSX, but then again I don't really want to learn a whole new OS either.
The release did nothing for enhancing me wanting a mac. ugh -
Just to confirm for you, there isn't a matte MBP in the new release. Disappointing, while I do prefer glossy I prefer to have more choice there.
Re: new macbook pro's - I don't understand what the big deal with nVidia is?!
