I love it so far, but I can't stop thinking about the mark. It looks like someone took a sharpie and drew a 2 inch line on the left palm rest. At certain light/angle, it can be seen pretty easily.

Should I ask if Apple will replace it? Will the Apple store do it for me. I don't want to ship it back to Apple and have to wait for them to ship it back.

If it's a model they have in stock, I don't see why not. Call up the store and tell them what's up. There's no reason you should spend all that money and end up with something that'll bug you for the rest of this machine's life.

Ask for a replacement.
There is no reason a new machine should have any scuffs on it. -
I used a little dish washing soap to clean it and seems to be gone now. I'll see if it still shows up tomorrow.
EDIT: It dried now and it's still there. -
You should be able to get Apple to replace it; this would be considered a cosmetic defect, and it's normally something that allows for an exchange or return within the 21-day time period. Just as a warning, one way or the other, you're likely to eventually end up with more scuffmarks like that just from normal wear and tear. If you do exchange it, and this kind of thing bothers you, I'd highly recommend the Marware Protection Pack (which includes a keyboard cover to keep grease marks from getting on your screen, and a wrist protector that covers the wrist rests):

(if this URL doesn't work, just go to http://www.marware.com and go to Products and choose Laptop products). They usually stock these at most Apple stores, etc. -
I bought a WaterField sleeve case to try to protect this beautiful machine as much as possible. I'll call my local Apple store tomorrow and see if they'll exchange it, if not, I'll have to exchange it through Apple Online. I really don't want to wait for shipping though. Plus I live in college so I'd have to wait for the weekends to pick it up.

Yeah, it shouldn't be a problem to do it at the local Apple Store (or did you mean you originally bought it online)? I think even with online purchases though, the local Apple Stores can handle returns and exchanges.
Yeah, the sleeves will help with the exterior. I still highly recommend the Marware Protection Pack though because it will protect the wrist rest portions of it as well. I think unfortunately, especially with the black finish, scuffs sometimes end up being a fact of life - that is, even if it's originally in pristine condition, it isn't difficult for it to get scuffed up eventually.
Anyway, good luck! -
Try rubbing it out. My macbook pro gets scuffed pretty easily (grease, white marks, scratches from jewelry) and I can rub them out leaving me with a flawless finish...I LOVE this silver finish. Seriously.

I wouldn't worry about one little scuff mark personally. Think of how many other things could go wrong or be wrong or break. That's a pretty small thing if everything else is perfect.
Just my .02 -
I'd personally take a blackbook with a slight scuff mark (especially since I would personally cover it with the marware wrist rest protector anyway) over, say, a macbook with a dead pixel. -

Apple doesn't sell refurbs as new; if they did, it was a mistake, and I am sure it was taken care of. But it would be very difficult for that to happen (new Apple units are sealed, and it would be very hard for a refurb unit to get in a new box).

Received my new Blackbook, but there's a light scuff mark
