I have just bought my first apple. A 12" powerbook. I have been a windows user for years and know of a lot of useful freeware. However, I have no idea about macs. Could you please recommend some good freeware for mac. Thanks.

growl (http //growl.info/), quicksilver ( http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/), and adium ( http://www.adiumx.com/) are 3 essential programs. Growl is a notification program, quicksilver is a cool, sweet and needed way to open programs that you dont have in the dock, and adium is a mac only IM program that has all the other protocols under it. A kinda fun game is glTron ( http://www.gltron.org/download.php). For videos, VLC - Great movie/media player - ( http://www.videolan.org/vlc/).
