Hey Ive been reformatting my santa rosa macbook pro alot and I got a friend who told me that reformatting too much can damage the hard drive, is this true?
Thanks!

No, reformatting cannot damage your harddrive. If anything, it actually helps your harddrive, by overwriting previous OS data and files, which actually secures your privacy. Most "nuke and boot" programs just reformat your harddrive like 7 times, so your harddrive is fine.

Reformats are good every once in awhile to ensure that your system runs smoothly and so that you get all the crap out of your system.

Why exactly are you reformatting your HD? I've never had to reformat since I got my Macbook well over a year ago. You do know that unlike Windows, OS X does not have a registry that gets filled up over time, or hidden spy/malware that hogs up all your resources?

Yeah, why reformat it alot?
It shouldn't be something that you need to do alot. And I've also never heard of it causing an issue with the HDD. Generally, a format will actually find errors on the disc (though thats rare since HDD are much more reliable now).
