Hello, i think it's time to put my asus g1 away and get a Mac. Now i'm looking at MB air and MB 13". So far the only major performance difference ive noticed is faster cpu and the opportunity of getting more Ram in MB 13"... Nothing else, that's why i think i am going to get refurb MB air:
Refurbished MacBook Air 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
13.3-inch glossy widescreen display
2GB memory
64GB solid-state drive
Built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
Built-in iSight Camera
__________
1299$
I have few questions about it:
-Wil it run HD (720p videos without showing me slideshows)?
-The only game want to run on it is Warcraft 3 TFT(have ps3), other that it's going to be used mostly for internet and office work..
-Is this ssd drive worth paying this extra $$ or its better to get 1099$ MB air with hdd and buy extra ssd? If so - which one?
-
buy the regular HDD one ... replace it with any SATA SSD you find by googling for the best price... it is only a matter of 8-9 screws
-
I refer you to this comment:

Warcraft 3 TFT ran on max settings on my old single-core AMD Turion 1.6GHz machine with ATI Xpress 200M graphics. You'll most definitely be able to run it on the Air with those specs.
It should also play 720P without too much issue, I believe. -

i Dont need an optical drive at all. I want it to be small to carry it around.
PS: w8ting for june, hope to see some new stuff from apple. -
Whatever it allows you to do on paper, do bear in mind that this is the original Crapbook Air, with the emphasis particularly on the Crap.
Now, you might be one of the many who makes so few demands of it htat you never come across problems with it, or one of the excessively nerdy who spends a week with coolbook and smcfancontrol getting just the right amount of crippling / noise to let it run stably.
Or you could of course keep on taking it back to Apple until they give you a Rev.B, which is a little better. But of course this means you could be without a notebook for at least three weeks all in all...
...Is it worth it? -
notebooks sense bad people...

good screen, fast HDD, slim and light
only old games, but why not; i'd probably find a windows for it though...
ps. i am still running solely on os/x, for those who are jumping the gun to bash ms... -
i wouldnt pay $1300 for a rev A macbook air.
-
I don't think I'd pay that much for a Rev. A MBA refurbished, but I would for a Rev. B.
My mis-understanding, I thought we were talking about the Rev. B with the 9400M...
-
i seriously cant recall using a disc exepect reinstalling vista.
the wonder of torrent ehh.
i like the macbook air but i would get a 2nd gen if you want one(less problems)
i still think macbook pro> macbook> macbook air -
I have the first generation since it came out, with no problems. Nothing at all. Of course the second generation is better, but you need to pay more for it.
-
Actually rev A is quite enough for just the daily works. But an external adaptor, for more USB ports and ethernet port, and maybe some other ports, may needed.
-
@OP
Where are you located? The U.S. Apple Store online has the Rev. A MacBook Air refurbished for $999. -
for daily usage i wouldn't mind picking up a mba as the alternatives(r500, x200s) are a little more expensive...
blabus, the model referred as w/ 64gb ssd (a good buy)
