Hi all,
Just wondering your thoughts on the following dilemma. I can get my hands on a refurbished 2.53 or 2.8GHz Unibody MBP through a special promotion. The prices are £1239 or £1439 respectively. Alternatively I am going through Heathrow Tax Free soon and will be able to get a brand new 2.66GHz MBP for about £1490.
So what do you think? Brand new or refurbed? And which of the two refurbs to go for? Did the recent processor bump (2.53--->2.66) bring any other changes that I would miss?
Holding off until WWDC may cost me the cheaper deal as the promotion is strictly while stocks last.

I don't know of any additional changes that the processor bump brought. Intel just launched new processors, and Apple put them in.
Are you buying the refurb one from Apple directly? I've bought refurb ipods from them before and all they ever had was a few minor scratches. If you're fine with that, I wouldn't hesitate with the 2.53 and 2.8. I'm assuming that you have some return policy (at least 14 days) so you can return it if Apple does add something that you really want.
That would be my approach. Buy now and potentially return later. -
if you can get 2.8 mbp for 50 pound more, I think that's a much better deal.
the difference between 2.66, and 2.53 is quite minimum, but 2.8 should be noticeable.
EDIT: NVM, it was wayyy too late to read anything. lol.
If it's refurbished from apple, I wouldn't hesitate to get it, since I've read that ppl are getting pretty much brand new laptop, minus the box. -
Hmmm, these prices sound very good. I'd get a new one if I were you if you can it for that price.
Personally, I spent £1,746 in late Feb 2009 on the 15" Macbook pro in my sig. I also purchased Microsoft Office 2008 Home for £100 and Pixelmator for £50.
I'm looking to sell it because circumstances now mean that I need the money, and was thinking of selling it for £1500 including Office and Pixelmator. It's in brand spanking new condition btw. Never left my desk once, so no travel bumpages either.
I'm left wondering whether my £1500 is a bit high though, despite the fact that my Macbook Pro is only something like 10 weeks old?
If I were you i'd go duty free and get the 2.66Ghz model mate. Sounds like an excellent deal. If you're interested in mine though, PM me(Although in all honesty I don't see why you would be with the 2.66 Ghz model so cheap?)
Refurbished 2.53/2.8 MBP or New 2.66 MBP
