    Hello guys,

First off, thank you for reading my thread. I just purchased a Macbook Pro today specs- mid 2010, 8gb ram, 128ssd. I'm very excited however when I try to re-install the OS with the original installation disk (Snow Leopard) I ran into a big problem.

Originally when I booted the disk up I clicked install and around 15 minutes into it, a sign popped up saying I should clean the disk as it wasn't reading correctly, I do so, and try again. The next time I got up to a blank white screen with a grey apple in the middle with the loading circle below and I hear the disk drive whirring and stopping, whirring and stopping repeatedly. Almost as if it was trying to spin but stops.

I'm assuming that either the disk or disk drive failed halfway into the installation and therefore rendering my macbook OS-less and since my disk drive or disk is not working and I do not have an OS on my laptop I am unable to eject my disk which is a HUGE problem.

I have absolutely no idea what to do at this point... Any advice would be GREATLY appreciate it.

I had a similar problem once, what I did was:

    open the mbp

    remove the ODD cable

    try to boot the mbp

if that doesnt work, I really dont know what you could do

If the disk gets you up to the install page then use disk utility and make a bootable USB stick,
If that fails then you do have a bad disk,

To eject the disk hold down the trackpad while starting up the mac and this should force it out
