    Hey guys,

I recently replaced my 15-inch mid 2009 MPB's HDD for an SSD (best move I have ever made). At the same time I removed the superdrive because, a) I never used it, and b) the laptop doesn't make any noise during bootup. I know that sounds crazy, but I'm very happy that I removed it.

Anyway, is there anyway of using the spare sata input which was being used for the superdrive and install a USB input. I would like to put a usb modem inside the computer. I thought this would be a pretty cool idea. However I can't find a female sata to female usb cable. Would anyone know if this is possible, and where I can find such a cable? I think one possible problem is the aluminium body blocking all the reception. I'm not sure however.

I just feel as though having a spare sata is a waste - no, I don't want a second HDD and optibay.

    Thanks.

no there is no sata to USB connectors, Expressport yes. also reception would be horrible if you could get any inside the aluminum chasis.
