My wife has had her new MBP for a couple of weeks now. It's our first Mac and it was a great choice. After two weeks of use, she loves the cleaner Mac interface and how easy and intuitive it is to use. Best of all (for me), I have thus far had to do absolutely no configuring, troubleshooting, or bloatware removal. Now I'm hoping it's my turn to get a MBP in November with the model refresh and with Leopard! :D

Congratulate your wife for me :). Actually, a model refresh isn't likely in October for the MacBook Pro, in my opinion. There's no new hardware out in October yet, and the current configuration of the MacBook Pro is powerful and up-to-date.

Why is Mac like a cult? It's like you've been converted and "saved" from the evil PCs.

:p Just making observations. Carry on.

after leopard comes out, the macbook pro won't be getting an update.

of course, they will ship with leopard.

its a good thing though, it shows that apple supports their hardware.

I doubt it as of now...Apple will want to keep the thin factor of the MacBook Pro and Apple would also want to keep the heat low without the need for loud fans.

    My 1337th post :p.

Everyone is so fired up about having the latest, latest , latest processor. At this point does it really truly matter? The current line of Macbooks and Pro models are lightening fast and quite efficient. As soon as the T7800 CPU is incorporated then they want the 7900 Ultra Extra Extreme CPU. :D

There's always the next model and the next and the next! Soon there'll be the mighty morphin ultra mega super ninja extra extreme processors :p

On a serious note, it can't hurt to have better. I'm already running into the limits of this machine now. Having 2.6 GHz processors would definitely be helpful for all the video stuff I have. I can't wait to see what Apple comes up with for Nephalim.

The MacBook will probably have an update around October. Maybe they will bring in Santa Rosa then.

I don't think Apple's ready for the ultraportable yet. Of course its my guess, but I see an ultraportable MacBook Pro as something to announce somewhere big, like WWDC 2008. My guess is Macworld 2008 will still mostly focus on the iPhone 2, or an iPhone Nano, whatever.
