I am heavily into music production and DJ'ing, so I am looking into getting a Macbook Pro 15". I was curious how well it would work out to buy a new Mac now, and sell it in 2 two years (or whenever) right before the new models are released, then used that sale money to purchase the new model...rinse, and repeat.
Is the resale value of Macbooks high enough to where it would be worth selling it used every other year and spending the extra 200-300$ for a new one or does this not work out so well?
Thanks!

No one can say for sure, but in my case when I sold my 2007 MBP (original price $2000
) last year it went for $800 on Ebay. That's a big drop in 3 years time, and I expect it to be the same trend today.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound like purchasing new is the best route, am looking at refurbished 2010 Macbook Pros for around 1,200, may be better to get that then sell it cheaper after a year or two.

Refurbs are the best Apple deal going, imo, that and buying used from people/places you trust.

Yeah I agree, macbooks used to keep their value better, I wonder why?

I also agree, buy on gen old is a good idea... I bought mine new, but student discount made the machine almost the same cost as a refurb (at the time), now the refurbs are way cheaper.
Resale for Macbooks?
