Hey Guys,
As the title says, please provide your feedback on these 2 topics. Are there any issues?
Thanks

care to be more specific? Is there something your expecting to be different? virtualization is virtualization, and works the same as any other Mac.
By Remote Control if you are talking about the loss of the infrared remote... there are other ways to control your Mac remotely without that... but that also is not specific to just the rMBP. -
Sorry, I should have been more specific.
Virtualization:
1) Is it even supported in RMBP.
2) Is it possible to install a Server 2008 R2 or Server 8 in bootcamp and have a Hyper-V role with working VM's?
Remote control:
Are there any issues with resolution when going 1/2/3 way remote connections? -
After visiting a local Apple store I have the answer to the Remote Control section - it's very good. I could open 4 full screen sessions and still have some room to play. Amazing!
I guess, the virtualization question will be answered later on, when a brave soul attempts to install a server os on it with Hyper-V and run VM's from it.

I will certainly test that when I receive the one I have on order. I sold my previous Retina because a colleague wanted one for a trip, and made me an offer I could not pass up. I have to wait another 3-4 weeks, but I made $250.
My daughters new MBA should be here next week. I might throw R2 on that and see of the role runs on it. -
i don't see how virtualization could be a problem... its a normal computer... The CPUs have the vt extension, and virtual machines like VMWare and Parallels both ran fantastic.

You're probably right. Windows 7 runs well so that covers all of the network and video drivers R2 would use. Hyper-V "should" run. I don't recall if I installed the Hyper-V role when I had Windows 8 on mine. I don't think I did. Once I discovered the bootcamp app would not run, I punted. -
That would great! I might actually get one sooner, very tempting, lol
I have no doubts about VMWare and Parallels, but I need a type I hypervisor like Hyper-V (role is enough) or ESXI. Those are more tricky

Our 2012 MacBook Air arrived this morning and I just concluded a quick Hyper-V test.
Yes, Windows Server 2008 R2 will install on the new MBA so I doubt there will be any issues on the rMBP. I installed Enterprise Edition and added the Hyper-V role.
I installed the wired and wireless drivers. I have the Apple USB -> Ethernet adapter for wired. I used it to create a virtual network for the test VM I created (also R2).
I did not test bridging the wireless adapter. It should be no problem getting this to work if desired but I stopped after I saw that wireless was working in R2.
I did not install any other drivers for chipset, video, audio, trackpad, etc. Although the Apple driver install setup.exe I used is designed for Windows 7, I could not get it to fire properly in R2 even when set to Win7 compatibility mode. I didn't spend a lot of time on it. Just be warned you might have to install all the desired drivers manually.
In short, Hyper-V and R2 should run though don't expect any power management. If you run R2 on a notebook, you already know this.
I am killing off the test partition and install now.
The new MBA is damn quick. -
Awesome! Thanks for the confirmation!
