I'm a pretty hard core road warrior, spending time on a weekly basis running thru airports. Today, I'm running a Dell 610, which weighs slightly more than my entire suitcase. I've previously had a mac, so OS X doesn't not only doesn't scare me, but I enjoy it as all of you do. I'm looking to replace the Dell, and have a couple of requirements.
I'm looking at 3 possible solutions: 2G MB, 2G 15" MBP, or Sony SZ650.
I have to sometimes run Windows for some of my applications. Don't see a problem with that.
I need enough power to be productive with as I do a lot of my work in the laptop environment. I think both the MB and MBP address that, but I'm open to comments.
Weight and form factor are critical. Both the MB and the Sony come in very nicely here, but I'd love to here comments from people that travel with an MBP extensively. The weight doesn't look too bad, but is the form factor awkward just to whip open in coffee shops, airports, etc.
I like to do a little modest gaming (Second Life) while on the road. To that end, the MBP and the Sony seem to be the winners with discrete graphics.
I'd like to be able to start working under the OSX umbrella again because I think that some of the core apps are excellent, and it's a heck of a lot more stable and less resource intensive. MB or MBP obviously there.
I'm interested in any other thoughts or things I should be thinking about? I know the MB with it's integrated graphics isn't a gaming machine, but can I expect it to perform similar to my dell with integrated graphics?
Thought? Comments? Snide Remarks?
Thanks

Yes, if the Dell has the same GMA 950, the MacBook will perform in graphics just about as well.
I would say the MB if you want a smaller Mac, the MBP if you want a lightweight 15.4-inch Mac, the Sony SZ if you want a lighter 13.3-inch. But since you want to run OS X again, then I guess you can cross the Sony off the list then

I also travel a lot with my macbook pro, and i will tell you, i was thinking about an ultra portable (my last laptop was an ibook12) but this laptop is sooo worth it ... the large screen is great when on the road, and i can use the laptop on a daily basis and it is durable.
I would really recommend it, and it is only 6 lbs or so... Since it is so thin it really is not bulky, i just recommend a nice laptop bag since the laptop is so thin I have heard of them warping from cheap bags. I like brenthaven bags -
There was a similar thread last week. Take a look here.
