I know that you need a minimum of 1g ram to run vista home premium on PC...which means better go with 2 gs. Is it the same for a macbook or is 1 gig ok?

You're going to want the same amount of RAM as you'd want with a PC; once you install Vista and boot into it, it's pretty much like booting up with any PC hardware.

So, 2GB of RAM would be highly recommended (especially with the regular MacBook, since some of that RAM also gets used by the integrated graphics).

Thanks. Just another question about hard drive space. I heard that vista takes up a substantial amount of hd space, which slows down the comp. Any thoughts on about how much hd space would be appropriate?

Which version will you try to install?

Ultimte takes up a TON of space. But I don't know how big the installs are.

As Zadillo says, get 2 gb of ram. vista pretty much requires that.

I have MacBook and Sony SZ laptops running Vista Ultimate each with 1 gig of RAM.

Performance is acceptable, although at times I admit the machines feel memory constrained. If I was ordering a new laptop, I'd go for 2 gigs, but don't think it is worth the money to upgrade these existing boxes.
