I've been having major problems browsing the internet lately. Safari won't stay open for more than 2 minutes without crashing and Firefox will half the time not format web pages correctly. For example, as I'm typing this in FF right now, in my tool bar up above this text box I have the boxes with bold, italics and underline options showing, but I can't select them. Even worse, the rest of where boxes should be just have text, for example it says Align Left, Align Center and Align Right instead of having selectable boxes. What is up with my browsers?

I would mabye reinstall Firefox and see what happens after that. For Safari, I would try and download the update/fresh download from the Apple website and see if that doesn't help. I'll try and look around for something else if that doesn't work for ya! ;)

It's weird that both are acting up. Could it be virus related?

Yeah I agree, that's really odd. While I was typing a response earlier, FF crashed on me. If you look at the attachment, it will show you how to clean up FireFox, including your cookies, browsing data, cache, etc. This might help make it lighter and therefore making it a bit more reliable. Mac's aren't really known for viruses, but that doesn't mean you couldn't have one. If you have downloaded the iWork 09 torrent, then you most likely have a Trojan. A Trojan is a form of malware which can't harm your computer unless you allow it too. I really think that reinstallation of both browsers would do you the most good.

No I didn't d/l the iWork09 torrent. I was going to redownload Safari with FF, but couldn't due to the formatting issues I was talking about. I'll have to do FF first and try the attachment.

I had a lot of problems with FF freezing lately, but just uploaded the update and it seems to be a little more stable. Safari hasn't given me an ounce of problems, but I'm just used to FF so it becomes my browser of choice by habit.

Upload the 3.06 update and see if that doesn't help the stability issue.
