Sata 3 has been enabled in all 2009 MBP 13" and 15.4 Macbooks!
It's a new firmware update!
-
Yeah, since it was a software issue a fix was bound to be released. But my question is still why? Why was it limited at 1.5gb/s in the first place? Did apple think that nobody would notice?
-
Ha probably which is pretty sad.
-
It was a good chance (more than not) that it was a mistake. Think about it, when has Apple ever addressed an issue in such a timely manner no matter how much complaining was posted on the web? They fixed this 14 days after the WWDC announcement of the new Macbook Pros.
-
I agree with HLdan. There was no benefit for apple to have the 1.5 limit set, financial or otherwise, which places this as an oversight IMO. This isn't the first time something like this has happened and I'm sure it won't be the last. It's just great to see Apple react fairly quickly on it and everyone's happy again.
-
Where do you find the firmware update? I don't see it on my SU.
-
It will only be for the MBP's that need it.
-
It's only for the latest Macbook models that came out earlier this month.
-
Pics or it didn't happen.
I'm on a slow dialup connection today, so it may take some time to check if this is true or not.
Edit: Looks like it has been fixed. Great!!! I'm going to buy one now.
-
How do you find out if your MBP (delivered this week) is limited to 1.5 or goes up to 3.0? and if Im running at 1.5 how do I update?
new mac user here. -
dont mind my previous post I just updated the firmware.
-
I'm definitively waiting to see what problems this causes.
-
Like what? Looks like problem solved to me.
-
OH, it's Sata 2 not 3.0. Just so you know.
-
The speed, probably. What about the thermal impact of a previously throttled item?
-
Bout time
.. -
SATA II = 3.0Gbps, just so you know.
None. And the impact on battery life was negligible at best. -
We'll see. Or maybe any failures resulting from it will be lost in the mists of time as far as the Apple 'enthusiasts' are concerned.
