I recently got a macbook pro, and first tried to calibrate the battery. While I was running it down, i popped in a dvd, and started watching it. While it was running, I lifted it up to move it, and the playback paused, and now the screen has these lines going across it. There is one like about a third of the way down, and I can see the desktop from it, but everything from that line down, it stuck. Any ways to fix this or should I just go exchange it? Thanks

Sounds like you just froze up quicktime(or whatever you were watching the movie in). Make sure you've quit the application by checking force quit(command+option+escape). If the app is in that list go ahead and force quit it. Otherwise restart and the screen should be cleared.
I wouldn't worry to much about it unless it starts happening a lot, then you'll want to take it in. -
Restart the Mac, and see if the screen clears.
If the lines are still there, then contact Apple. -
I ended up just exchanging it cause I got it less than a week ago. Thanks for the replies.

Good to hear you solved the problem (albeit by exchanging it with another one
)!
