I always had this issue where my MBP would slow down significantly when secure emptying the trash. I even upgraded my RAM to 4GB to see it would make a difference and everything including browsing, opening and closing browsers, and loading applications would lag and take much longer than usual until secure emptying the trash is completed. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hey knp, I had the same problem a couple of months ago with my MBP and i couldnt figure it out to save my life! I tried everything i could think of and i almost came to the conclusion that i was going to get a new windows notebook but i stuck with Mac. All i did to solve this problem was to reinstall OS X on my mac with the reinstall disks that came with it if you got it new. But beware to back up all of your data if you attempt to do this! As soon as i did the reinstall it worked like a charm. Everything worked like brand new and nothing was out of the ordinary. So if I were you i would back up all of my data, Reinstall OS X, then load everything back on there and clean up the apps off the front row that you dont need. Thats exactly what i did and everything was good. Hope that helps!!!

Hmmm...did you have problems while using the ordinary "Empty Trash..." or "Secure Empty Trash". The last thing I want to do is reinstall OS X unless I have to.
