This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    "Secure Trash Delete" never stops, freezes

    using 10.5.1

    I put 10mb worth of junk in the trash and hit secure trash delete under Finder.

    It just hanged for 30 mins, kept saying it was still deleting 6 items

    not until I restarted the MB did the trash empty.

    whats going on?

    My guess is that one of the files you were trying to delete was still being used. Usually when this happens a window will pop up notifying you, but sometimes it freezes(especially if it's a system file).

    What were the file types you were deleting?
