Going to the Apple store on Sunday to look at Macbook & Macbook Pro . Wanted to know how Apple is making out with the problems they are having. Did they get all the problems fix.

First off it appears to be a bit less and less reports of problems as the days go by, so it would seem that Apple is addressing more as they go.

Normal users are also finding solutions to problems as well, some are not recommended, but I think if you talk to AppleCare right they could be solved.

MBPs are currently being allowed to come in for logic board replacements that will address the heat issue and the whining, any new ones are said to already have the fix.

Macbooks are also being allowed to return to AppleCare for replacement of the top case for any that are discoloring, any new ones are also fixed with new materials and appears to have solved that issue. If you are planning on getting a white one, its recommended that you get the InvisibleShield from ShieldZone, I have the white one and after almost 2 months of use I found the InvisibleShield turning a bit yellow, however not underneath where the actual case is, so it's a good thing to have, if not make sure you got some iKlear.

Those are really the only problems we are hearing mostly, there are a few lemons getting through from time to time, in which the notebook shutsdown because of overheating, in that case just give AppleCare a call.

Anyways, the chances are getting such as one is slim. Remember just like brand new cars, anything new has a breakin period (in computers we call it burn-in) and usually about a week or 2 after purchase the tempertures start stablizing.

    Any other questions please ask.

Reports of problems seem to be dropping everywhere, be it on this forum or elsewhere. So it definitely seems like the later builds are getting better in regards to these issues.

    MacBook -

Creaking hinge (more common on black macbooks). I just got my macbook back from the repair center for this.

Random shutdowns and freezes. This has only occured a few times in my case. This may be due to bad ram or needs a new logicboard.

To get the newest build might be better to order via their website instead of going through the store stock which might be weeks or months old.

If you end up thinking about that MBP, it might be wise to wait just a little bit longer as it should be expecting an update soon with a new type of processor which has lower power requirementsm thus giving better battery life.

The Macbook isn't expected to get this new processor for quite a while, at least not until after MBPs get the new Santa Rosa
