OK so i bought an xps 1330 but its going to take forever to come. I keep going back and forth if i want macbook or not. I have used windows all my life and am very familiar with it. Windows barley runs and always messes up but i think that is because my computer is so bad and not windows fault... 4 year old business computer trying to play flight simulator on it.... Anyway I was playing with os x and i like it for the most part. I hate how you cant right click though unless you press control that really bugs me. Anyway are macs actually worth the hype. People say they are virus free i know thats kind of a lie im sure there will be viruses for them soon. Also should i get a virus program if i get a macbook. I understand i have to give up most gaming with macbook but thats ok. Also is tiger os x worth the upgrade. So basically most i do is browse internet and stuff no editing or anything i like that iphoto though is a great program i do upload pictures. Im thinking of taking some photo editing courses actually. Should i switch to mac just cause i like the interface or am i wasting my time/money

The right-click issue is pretty unknown to a lot of Windows users, but Mac OS X actually has the option to right-click but tapping two fingers on the touchpad or by holding down two fingers on the touchpad and clicking the mouse button. After using it, I find this method is more convenient than stretching out a finger to reach a dedicated right click button.

You do not need antivirus on the Mac yet. There are no Mac viruses in the wild right now (it is true, right now) and you will be fine. So no, you do not need antivirus on Mac OS X yet.

You are not wasting your time or money. Mac OS X is a great operating system (it is not perfect, but a lot things Windows does wrong it does right). Go to an Apple Store, play around with the MacBook and Mac OS X.

Are you a college student? If so, you qualify for the Student Discount, $100 off the Mac plus a free iPod Nano and printer.

All these threads are viewable from the first 5 pages. A little research goes a long way. There's plenty of these threads already, and what you should do is to research for yourself and decide for yourself. We could tell you all day long to get a macbook, but in the end you have to decide for yourself or you wont be happy.

you can use XP on the mac of course, but you just gotta buy it. Keep in mind that if you needed it for your software, you will need to buy the new OS when it arrives, or pay something like 30 bucks for it. Anyhow, it seems silly to buy software again just for mac, though there are alternatives if you look around enough like Open Office and more

Dell111, Mac Station in downtown, Simply Computing and WestWorld on Broadway are good Mac stores.

You will not need antivirus on Mac OS X right now. So don't worry about buying it. There is a Mac equivalent of OpenOffice, NeoOffice, which is a free office suite, or you can use Google Docs which in my opinion is a great office suite with lots of capability (especially the flexibility of accessing/editing/saving your documents from any computer that has an internet connection). For Photoshop you can try GIMP or you can buy Photoshop.

There are ways to run Windows on a Mac and my sticky Running Windows on a Mac will detail that. If you have interest in running Windows on a Mac read it.

OpenOffice is pretty good. The PowerPoint application could use some work (very simple) but other than that it works pretty well.

Of course, the same is said of the Mac equivalent of OpenOffice, NeoOffice.
